Mr. Baskin specializes in Family and Entertainment Law.   He holds a Juris Doctorate from Wayne State University Law School and was awarded an Honorary PHD from Central Michigan University.  Early in his career he served as law clerk to the Honorable Clifford O’Sullivan in the Southern District of the U.S. Federal Court.  He served variously as a police officer, adjunct professor and assistant prosecuting attorney.  The Firm has advised the Michigan Attorney General on issues related to child support and served as Chair of the State’s Domestic Violence Task Force which authored Legislation allowing Judge’s to grant Personal Protection Orders for those in Domestic Abuse situations. The Firm is credited as the principal author of the Michigan Child Custody Act of 1970 and served as chairman of the ACLU child custody committee.

The Firm expanded its practice to the entertainment field and has represented national entertainers such as Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Barbara Streisand and International Radio Host, Dick Purtan as well as negotiating broadcasting rights for Detroit Red Wings and the Detroit Tigers.

Mr. Baskin established and hosted the Emmy Award winning local television program, “Due Process”, featuring lawyers and public figures sharing views and advice.  He has hosted and appeared on programs for ABC, NBC, FOX, and CBS and is one of the founding members of the Michigan Branch of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
